Spirtual Counseling

Are You Struggling To Feel More Spiritually Connected And Fulfilled?

Sometimes something that we can’t quite pinpoint can feel missing or “off” in our lives. We may be unable to figure out the source of our unease or dissatisfaction, but intuitively, we may still feel and know that something is out of alignment—something we are experiencing from within.

For some, their sense of spirituality is firmly established, and they may simply be looking for ways to better live within their ideals, values, and beliefs. Others might still be in the process of exploring their spirituality and want help understanding and articulating what they’re feeling.

Regardless of where you are on your own religious or spiritual journey, counseling can provide you with a setting to help you elevate your mind, body, and spirit by integrating the spiritual component of the human experience within the framework of modern psychology.

The Spirit And The Soul Are Connected With Many Human Issues

Although it can be useful to distinguish concepts like mind, body, and spirit, we know that these spheres are all very interconnected. Spiritual distress can manifest as a variety of physical, mental, and emotional symptoms such as fatigue, blocks, low energy, low libido, anxiety, disconnection, mood swings, irritability, resentment, loneliness, emptiness, grief, and depression, as well as feelings of more general life dissatisfaction and unhappiness.

Perhaps you tend to constantly compare yourself to others which causes you to feel insecure about your life, your choices, and your future. You may actively want more in terms of work, school, friends, or a relationship, but you can’t escape the feeling that something is “stuck.” You may feel disconnected from others as well as disconnected from your own sense of self.

You may be trying to source yourself from others, unable to hold space for relationships because you can’t pour from an empty cup, or you may have difficulty co-regulating your emotions with your family and friends because there is something within you that is not “okay.”  There may be energy blocks from generational trauma, toxic relationships, your own trauma, the energy of others, feelings of an existential crisis, or moments that have been imprinted on your psyche that need to be processed and let out.

Or maybe you actually feel as though you are currently in the middle of a spiritual awakening or experiencing a “dark night of the soul.” Holistic spiritual counseling can be helpful for those who are already on the right path, for those who feel they have fallen off course, or for those who don’t know where to even start. Spiritual mental health can help you find purpose and meaning, while mastering your own inner wisdom so you can lead from your light and embrace the human experience.

You may also notice angel numbers, signs, messages from ancestors, or you might feel a connection to the spiritual and mystical realms. And you may be interested in better applying this spiritual awareness toward your own mental well-being while working with someone with the clinical knowledge to understand and relate. As you travel along your spiritual path, therapy can allow you to feel seen, heard, and understood, assist you with self-regulation and mood management, and give you the tools to advance psychologically and spiritually.

Many Of Us Feel Hesitant To Talk Openly About Our Spirituality

In this society, many people fear being openly spiritual because they’re worried that they’ll be perceived as strange or witchy. Yet spirituality is a natural part of human existence—we need a sense of spirituality to connect with our purpose and our higher power and to feel connected with something that we know is greater than ourselves.

At Mood Connection Center, we support psychological and spiritual exploration. You can work with an engaged therapist who employs a unique approach to spiritual awareness and mental, physical, and emotional health. Through our holistic and integrative approach to therapy, your counselor can help you alleviate your symptoms, cleanse your energy, and foster a sense of peace, balance, and harmony so that you can be more connected and in spiritual alignment. This does not promise that life will be easy, but it can empower you to be guided by your own light and to find strength from within in times of distress.

Spiritual Counseling At Mood Connection Center Can Help You Reconnect With Yourself

One constant across diverse types of religions, philosophies, and beliefs is an emphasis on spiritual growth. Only you can say where exactly you are along your own spiritual narrative, but an empathetic counselor can act as a guide and mentor to help usher you toward your truest direction and your most authentic self.

I apply my therapeutic approach based on you and your needs. Whether you are deeply religious or merely interested in incorporating a spiritual dimension into your life, I can meet you exactly where you are. My unique approach to therapy draws from the intersection of years of psychology, energy work, spirituality, and Integrative Mental Health.

I am grounded and centered in myself and can hold space for those struggling with direction in life. Indeed, as a therapist, I am on my spiritual path, and have had challenges in which I’ve learned as a client and as a provider.  I am a student who is always learning so that I can share this knowledge with others.

In fact, I have suffered significant losses in my own life. My younger brother died from complications of cancer unexpectedly.  It was devastating for me and my family. It wasn’t just my years of experience as a mental health provider that helped me heal but an intersection of my clinical knowledge and my own spirituality. I went through my own dark night of the soul and through that process found deeper meaning.  With my spirituality, I am stronger. Since then, I have incorporated what I’ve learned into my clinical practice because I’ve seen firsthand the transformative power of connecting within and from above.

An Eclectic View Of Spirituality And Mental Health

While my therapy is rooted in clinical psychotherapy, in my spiritual counseling work I incorporate mindfulness, meditation, manifestation, grounding, work with the 7 chakras (safety, feelings, individuality, relational, communication, intuition, and higher power), reiki healing, hypnosis, breathing techniques, somatic therapy, and intention setting.

Aside from spirituality, the foundation of our work will be in traditional behavioral therapies that lend themselves to spiritual work, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Trauma Informed Care, Polyvagal Theory, Ericssonian Hypnosis, and Integrative Mental Health. Through my holistic treatment approach to mental health issues rooted in spirituality, we can build a toolkit that is unique to you and allows you to move forward from a place of greater love, connection, and joy.

You Might Still Have Some Questions or Concerns About Spiritual Counseling…

I’m concerned about the cost of therapy.

It’s interesting that we spend money buying things we don’t necessarily need and yet hesitate to spend money on our own mental health and happiness. If anything, spiritual counseling is more than a cost but an investment in your overall well-being that can have long-lasting effects on how you feel about yourself and can help you master tools to support your own healing.

I have a full schedule and don’t feel like I have enough time to regularly attend sessions.

Sessions can be booked well in advance, based on appointment availability, in order to best accommodate your schedule. If you need a specific time or date, you can also join our waiting list, and when a spot opens up, we can contact you to see if you’re interested. Regardless of how busy you are, it’s important to prioritize your emotional and spiritual health, as doing so can lead to a deeper sense of peace and satisfaction no matter how hectic your life feels.

I’ve tried therapy before and nothing changed—how will this be any different?

I often work with people who have already tried counseling before. Whether you are new to therapy or did not have an ideal experience last time, I still encourage you to try again and see if the specialty services that we provide are a better match for what you need. I’m able to draw from both somatic and spiritual approaches as well as evidence-based mental health treatment methods, allowing for more comprehensive healing and growth.
